The Ultimate Mallorca Ride: 500km on the Tideacebike GV201 Gravel Frame
After four incredible days in Mallorca, I’ve finally chalked off the last kilometre. Looking back at Day 1, it feels like a lifetime ago—sitting in a café in Sóller, shivering after a relentless downpour, with temperatures colder than Northumberland. Fast forward to today, and I’m basking in the sun, riding what was probably the most fun-filled cycling experience I’ve ever had.
Why the Tideacebike GV201 Gravel Frame Was My Perfect Choice
Bringing a gravel bike to a road-heavy cycling destination like Mallorca might seem unconventional, but with the Tideacebike GV201, I simply switched to road wheels and was ready to roll. Over the four days, I covered nearly 500km and saw literally thousands of cyclists. Looking back, I’m glad I met them in the last stretch of the trip and not the first—otherwise, I might not have made it back in one piece!

One thing I noticed during this trip is how many riders are convinced they need to spend a fortune to ride fast. Big brands push the narrative that only ultra-expensive bikes can perform, but my GV201 gravel frame proved otherwise. To be completely honest I was a bit dubious of buying from Tideace as I had never come across them before but due to the spec of the forks required Tideace seemed to be the only company offering the correct spec for my bike. This paired with the relatively low cost of carbon forks compared other companies, I took my chance as I really wanted to try carbon forks on my bike. \n\nI'm please to say that these forks are really good quality. I was disappointed off the bat because of the limited chainring size the frame allows. Nowhere in the frame description or webpage does it say that it can accommodate a max 2x chainring of 46/30. For me this isn't great because I live around rolling gravel roads and a 46t is just too small to be competitive in a bike race with a Shimano cassette. The cable routing was smooth, the carbon layup looks great in the inside, the downtube storage is nifty. The paint looks great, but is paper thin. Building the frame up I dropped a tool and hit the paint and easily removed a noticeably large amount of paint. At the end of the day, the bike works great, but I would not consider this a race machine. Definitely great for off road adventures with all of its mounting brackets. Beware of aggressive geometry and do not cut your steerer tube as low as you normally do. The frame is longer and lower than most gravel frames.
