Rim Brake Frame
A carbon rim brake frame refers to a bicycle frame made primarily from carbon fiber that is designed to accommodate rim brakes. Rim brakes are a type of braking system where brake pads exert pressure directly on the rim of the bicycle wheel to slow down or stop the bike.
Carbon rim brake frames are specifically engineered to work with this type of braking system. They often feature reinforced areas around the brake mounts to handle the forces generated during braking and ensure structural integrity. These frames are lightweight, stiff, and provide excellent performance characteristics suitable for road cycling and other applications where rim brakes are preferred.
In contrast, some modern bicycle frames are designed for disc brakes, which use a rotor mounted on the wheel hub and calipers attached to the frame or fork to provide braking force. These frames typically have different design considerations to accommodate the different braking mechanism.
